Collaborative & Sponsored Programs

The AU–AUST Collaboration is a partnership between Auburn University and the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Abuja, Nigeria. Established through a memorandum of understanding, the program promotes international collaboration in mathematics and statistics through faculty exchanges, joint research projects and graduate student training. The partnership has enabled students from AUST to pursue doctoral study at Auburn while strengthening research connections and academic collaboration between the two institutions.

The NSF Research Training Group (RTG) program at Auburn supports collaborative research training for students in the mathematical sciences. A recent joint grant awarded to Auburn University and Tuskegee University funds a multi-year initiative focused on building strong mathematical foundations for emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and integrated data science. The program provides research opportunities and mentorship for undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program provides undergraduate students with opportunities to participate in faculty-mentored research projects in mathematics and related STEM fields. Through intensive summer programs and collaborative research groups, participants explore open problems, attend seminars and develop their own research presentations. These experiences help students build research skills, connect with faculty mentors and prepare for graduate study in mathematics and related disciplines.
