Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
The Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) provides college-wide leadership and coordination for undergraduate education in Auburn University's College of Sciences and Mathematics. Working collaboratively with academic departments, faculty, staff and the Office of Student Services, the office advances academic excellence through curriculum support, academic policies and processes, strategic planning and student success initiatives. We promote continuous improvement by strengthening academic quality, supporting effective educational practices and fostering an engaging undergraduate experience.
The ADAA Office also provides administrative leadership for several high-impact educational initiatives, including the Rural Medicine Program, the COSAM Learning Assistant Program, the COSAM Clinical Shadowing Program and AU Teach. Together, these programs create distinctive opportunities that enrich the undergraduate experience.
The ADAA Office serves as a resource for students, faculty and staff on a wide range of academic matters. How We Support Undergraduate Education & Students
The ADAA Office works with academic departments and COSAM Student Services to support students throughout their time in the College of Sciences and Mathematics. We help connect students with academic guidance, educational opportunities and resources that encourage learning, engagement and professional growth.
Our work includes:
- Helping students and faculty navigate undergraduate academic processes, policies and support resources
- Supporting high-impact learning experiences, including internships, undergraduate research, clinical shadowing and peer-assisted learning programs
- Recognizing student achievement through the COSAM Academic Awards, Graduation Marshal selection and Dean’s List recognition
- Collaborating with COSAM Student Services to support advising, academic engagement and student success initiatives
Through this work, we help create a supportive academic environment for COSAM students.
How We Support the College’s Academic Mission & Processes
The ADAA Office works with academic departments, faculty and university partners to support COSAM’s academic mission and maintain effective academic processes across the college. We help guide academic planning, curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts that support student success and academic quality.
Our work includes:
- Coordinating curriculum development, revision, review and approval processes for courses, programs and academic initiatives
- Supporting degree assessment, accreditation activities, academic program reviews and other continuous improvement efforts across COSAM
- Helping academic units navigate academic policies, procedures and operational needs while maintaining clear workflows aligned with university policies and standards
- Collaborating with departments and campus partners on strategic academic planning, administrative reviews and new academic initiatives
