The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in Auburn’s College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) prepares students for a wide range of careers through four primary majors: mathematics, applied mathematics, applied discrete mathematics and statistics. These programs provide a strong foundation in critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical reasoning. Students gain experience through research, advanced coursework and mentorship that equips them for graduate study, professional schools and STEM careers. With demand growing for mathematicians, statisticians and data scientists, Auburn graduates are prepared to create solutions and lead innovation in today’s technology-driven world.

Probability and Statistics II has been my favorite course so far. It was challenging, but the real-world applications and a supportive professor made it fun. After graduation, I hope to become a certified actuary and travel the world while I work.
