Outreach
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics supports Auburn University’s outreach mission through programs that connect students, educators and communities with the power of mathematics, statistics and problem-solving.
Through competitions, research experiences, international partnerships and public exhibits, the department creates opportunities for learners at every level to explore mathematical ideas, build quantitative skills and engage with the broader mathematical sciences community.

American Mathematics Competitions
The American Mathematics Competitions introduce local students to creative mathematical problem-solving through nationally recognized contests. These events encourage students to think critically, explore challenging problems and build confidence in mathematics.

Masamu
Masamu supports collaboration, research and training in the mathematical sciences. The program helps connect students and faculty through shared work in mathematics, statistics and related fields.
SAMSA
SAMSA provides opportunities for engagement, collaboration and professional development in the mathematical sciences. Through this program, students and faculty connect with broader networks of scholars and researchers.
AU-AUST
Auburn University partners with the African University of Science and Technology to support graduate training in mathematics and statistics. Through this partnership, Auburn helps host and mentor PhD students as they advance their research and academic preparation.
Visual Math Exhibit
The Visual Math Exhibit highlights the beauty, creativity and real-world relevance of mathematics. Through visual displays and interactive content, the exhibit invites visitors to experience mathematics in new and accessible ways.
Outreach programs also provide Auburn students with opportunities to mentor younger learners, share their enthusiasm for mathematics and demonstrate the real-world impact of quantitative reasoning. These experiences strengthen connections between Auburn University and the broader community while encouraging the next generation of mathematicians, scientists and problem solvers.
