The Department of Mathematics and Statistics participates in community engagement efforts that connect students, schools and families with the broader STEM community at Auburn University.

Through COSAM outreach programs and public-facing events, faculty, staff and students help introduce mathematical thinking, problem-solving and quantitative reasoning to learners beyond the university classroom.

Community STEM Programs

Summer Science Institute | SSI

The Summer Science Institute is a COSAM summer program for rising high school juniors and seniors who are interested in science and mathematics. Participants engage with Auburn faculty through a residential experience focused on topics beyond the traditional high school curriculum.

Destination STEM is a hands-on COSAM outreach event that introduces middle school students to science, technology, engineering and mathematics through interactive exhibits and activities. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics contributes activities that help students explore puzzles, patterns and problem-solving.
