Welcome to Auburn University's

College of Sciences & Mathematics

At Auburn University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics, students, faculty and staff are united by curiosity, discovery and a commitment to making a difference.

COSAM is home to five academic departments: Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geosciences, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. Together, these departments provide the foundation for many of Auburn’s programs in science, mathematics, health, technology, engineering and education.

Through teaching, research and outreach, COSAM advances Auburn’s land-grant mission and prepares students to address complex challenges in Alabama and beyond. Students learn from dedicated faculty, gain hands-on experience in laboratories and field settings, and explore opportunities that connect classroom learning with real-world impact.

COSAM faculty and students conduct research across a wide range of disciplines, from biological systems and chemical discovery to Earth processes, mathematical modeling, data science, physics and more. This work expands knowledge, supports innovation and creates opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in discovery.

Beyond campus, COSAM extends science and mathematics education through outreach programs, camps, teacher partnerships and public engagement. These efforts help inspire curiosity, expand access to STEM learning and strengthen communities across Alabama.
