Getting Under The Surface (G.U.T.S.)

Getting Under the Surface (G.U.T.S.) is an evening outreach program designed for students in grades 1–6 and their parent or guardian. Each session begins with a light snack and informal time to settle in, followed by a 60-minute, hands-on science activity that encourages curiosity, creativity and exploration.

G.U.T.S. is built around the idea that science learning is strongest when families learn together. Through engaging, age-appropriate activities, the program introduces scientific concepts in accessible and exciting ways, helping students build confidence in asking questions and thinking like scientists. At the same time, parents and guardians gain tools and experiences that support science learning beyond the classroom.

The mission of G.U.T.S. is to enhance science literacy and engagement within the community by creating meaningful, shared science experiences for children and their families — fostering curiosity today and a lifelong interest in science for the future.
