Destination STEM
Destination STEM is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence and expand access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics through immersive, student-centered learning.
Destination STEM includes two complementary experiences: Destination STEM Expo and Destination STEM Summit. Together, these programs give students age-appropriate opportunities to explore STEM disciplines, connect with Auburn faculty and students, and learn more about future majors and careers.
Destination STEM is made possible through strong partnerships with educators, schools, volunteers and supporters who share COSAM’s commitment to broadening participation in STEM. In 2025, Destination STEM was proudly supported as a Tiger Giving Day project, thanks to donors who helped fully fund this impactful outreach experience.

Explore Destination STEM
Destination STEM Expo is an interactive experience where sixth through ninth grade students explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on exhibits and demonstrations. Students are encouraged to see, touch, hear and experience the many wonders of science while discovering new areas of interest.
The event also introduces students to the Auburn University campus and the opportunities available through the College of Sciences and Mathematics. Schools are invited to register for scheduled visit times during the event.
Destination STEM Summit is an interactive mini-conference where eighth through tenth grade students explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on exhibits, breakout sessions and panel discussions. Students engage with science and mathematics disciplines while learning more about academic journeys, career possibilities and the many ways STEM shapes the world.
The event also gives students a closer look at the Auburn University campus and the opportunities available through the College of Sciences and Mathematics. Schools are invited to register for scheduled visit times during the event.
This kind of experience is crucial for students, especially in communities with limited access to STEM opportunities. They’re discovering careers they may have never considered and doing and seeing things they would not have otherwise.
I think this is a great experience for students interested in STEM — especially those who are unsure about what they want to do when they grow up. This gives you a lot of different ideas about future careers.
We want every student to feel like they belong in STEM. This is about planting seeds and building STEM confidence.
Visiting Auburn’s campus and interacting with students and faculty provides exposure to college before college. That experience is invaluable.
