About the Program

The COSAM STEM Summer Bridge Program is a residential summer experience for incoming first-year students designed to support a smooth, confident transition into Auburn’s College of Sciences and Mathematics. Through academic preparation, skill-building workshops and community-building experiences, Summer Bridge helps students start their first semester prepared — academically, socially and personally.

Summer Bridge provided a community I never knew I needed. This experience allowed me to be around like-minded individuals, all working to achieve similar goals. It showed me that true success at Auburn is within reach for students like myself.

Summer Bridge is a four-week on-campus program held before the fall semester that introduces students to the expectations of college-level STEM coursework while helping them build strong study habits time-management skills and a supportive peer network.

Participants live on campus engage with faculty and staff and experience Auburn life before the semester begins giving them a valuable head start.

What You’ll Do

During the Summer Bridge Program students will:

Strengthen foundational skills in math and science
Participate in academic workshops focused on study strategies time management and college success
Engage with COSAM faculty advisors and peer mentors
Build community with other incoming COSAM students
Explore campus resources and support services
Develop confidence navigating college-level STEM expectations

Why Summer Bridge Matters

The transition to college especially in STEM can be challenging. Summer Bridge is designed to help students:

Enter the fall semester academically prepared
Build confidence and independence
Develop effective learning strategies early
Form connections with peers faculty and staff
Feel a strong sense of belonging within COSAM

Students leave Summer Bridge with tools relationships and momentum that support long-term academic success.

Who Should Apply?

The COSAM STEM Summer Bridge Program is open to:

Incoming first-year students admitted to Auburn University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics
Students interested in strengthening academic readiness and building community before the fall semester

Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The program is especially supportive of students who may benefit from early academic preparation and structured support as they transition to college.

Format: Residential in-person program

Applying to the Summer Bridge Program is simple:

Complete the online application
Submit a 750-word personal narrative
Provide a high school transcript
Subit two letters of recommendation from academic, community or professional references
