Experiential Learning & Research Opportunities
Experiential learning is a central part of the Biomedical Sciences and Health Sciences experience at Auburn University. Students are encouraged to engage in hands-on learning that complements classroom instruction and supports preparation for health-related careers, professional school and the workforce.

Students have access to undergraduate research opportunities across the College of Sciences and Mathematics and partner units. Working alongside faculty mentors, students can participate in laboratory research, data analysis and scholarly projects that strengthen scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills while exploring areas of interest in the biomedical and health sciences.

Upper-level laboratory courses provide students with hands-on experience using modern techniques, instrumentation and experimental design. These courses emphasize critical thinking, data interpretation and practical skills relevant to biomedical research and health-related professions.

Students are encouraged to pursue internships in clinical, research and industry settings. Internships offer valuable real-world experience, professional skill development and opportunities to apply scientific knowledge in applied environments.

A variety of student organizations support students interested in health professions by offering peer networking, service opportunities, professional development and exposure to health-related careers. Participation allows students to build community while strengthening leadership and communication skills.

Pre-Professional Application Course (PPAC)

The Pre-Professional Application Course (PPAC) provides pre-health students with individual guidance during the application process. PPAC is open to current Auburn students and alumni planning to apply to professional school. PPAC includes access to exclusive workshops, mock interviews, individual meetings to assess candidacy, application review, and essay feedback. PPAC is a year-long program that begins each fall.
