Biomedical Sciences graduates pursue advanced degrees across the United States and internationally, with the largest number attending professional and graduate programs in Alabama. Top destinations include Auburn University, UAB, the University of South Alabama, as well as medical schools such as VCOM-Auburn and ACOM. Graduates continue into medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy and biomedical research programs.

Typical Post Graduate Pathways
Biomedical Sciences (BMSC) graduates pursue a wide range of post-graduate pathways, with many continuing into professional health programs and others entering the workforce directly after graduation. Nearly 60% of graduates who enroll in further education pursue professional doctorate programs such as medicine (MD and DO), dentistry, optometry and veterinary medicine, while 28.5% continue into master’s programs and a smaller percentage pursue research doctorates. Recent graduates have earned acceptances to institutions across the United States, with especially strong representation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Auburn University, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Auburn and University of South Alabama. Graduates who enter the workforce commonly find positions in health care, clinical research, biotechnology and related scientific fields, with top employers including East Alabama Medical Center, Christ Health Center, Inc. and local medical practices. With an overall career success rate above 80%, the BMSC program prepares students to succeed in both advanced education and meaningful careers in the health sciences.
