The Donald E. Davis Arboretum is a place for visitors, students, faculty, volunteers and community partners to connect with Alabama’s native plants and natural communities.
Whether you want to visit, volunteer, bring a class, join a program, support an event or stay connected with Arboretum news, there are many ways to be part of the Arboretum community.
One of the best ways to get involved is to experience the Arboretum in person. The Arboretum is free and open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset, offering walking trails, native plant collections, water features and quiet natural spaces throughout the year.
Visitors can explore on their own, use mobile tour resources where available or contact Arboretum staff about guided opportunities for groups.
Stay connected with Arboretum programs, seasonal events, plant sales, volunteer opportunities and other updates.
Visitors, alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to join the Arboretum’s community of native plant enthusiasts, conservation supporters and friends.
Volunteers help care for the Arboretum and support its role as a public garden, outdoor classroom and living collection. Opportunities may include helping with seasonal work days, public programs, plant sales, tours, outreach activities or other projects.
Students seeking service opportunities, community members interested in native plants and volunteers who simply enjoy spending time outdoors are encouraged to contact Arboretum staff to learn about current needs.
The Arboretum regularly supports Auburn University classes, labs, student projects, research activities, art installations and community outreach programs.
Faculty, staff, student organizations and community groups interested in using the Arboretum for educational or university-related activities should contact Arboretum staff in advance. Advance coordination helps avoid scheduling conflicts, protect ongoing research and ensure the Arboretum can support the activity appropriately.
The Arboretum has historically offered docent training for volunteers interested in learning more about native plants, collections and Arboretum programs. Docents and program volunteers can help share the Arboretum’s story with visitors and support educational opportunities throughout the year.
