The Donald E. Davis Arboretum depends on the generosity of alumni, friends, community partners and visitors who value native plants, conservation, education and public access to natural spaces.
Private gifts help sustain the Arboretum’s living collections, facilities, educational programs and conservation work. Support also makes it possible to care for the grounds, improve visitor experiences, expand learning opportunities and preserve Alabama’s native plant diversity for future generations.

Gifts help maintain the Arboretum’s native plant collections, including nationally recognized collections of oaks and native azaleas, as well as pitcher plants, trillium, wildflowers and other species that reflect the biodiversity of Alabama and the Southeast.
Support also strengthens the Arboretum’s role in safeguarding rare and significant plants, demonstrating the value of native landscapes and sharing Alabama’s conservation story with visitors.
Private support has helped make many Arboretum facilities, programs and visitor experiences possible. As the Arboretum continues to grow, future gifts can help strengthen its role as both a living museum and a welcoming campus destination.
Planned growth opportunities include improvements to trails, signage, gathering spaces, interpretation, accessibility, water features and other elements that help visitors enjoy and learn from the Arboretum. Additional support can also help advance larger long-term priorities, including a more visible campus-facing entrance that better connects the Arboretum to Auburn’s academic core and creates a stronger sense of arrival for students, faculty, alumni and visitors.
Future investment may also support the development of a Biodiversity Conservatory, envisioned as a space for plant conservation, research, teaching and public engagement. Together, these opportunities would expand the Arboretum’s capacity to showcase Alabama’s native plant diversity, support hands-on learning and create meaningful experiences for the campus and broader community.
The Arboretum serves as an outdoor classroom for Auburn University students, local schools, community groups and visitors of all ages. Gifts help expand educational programs, public events and outreach opportunities that connect people with native plants and natural communities.
