Auburn Azalea Availability & Plant Sales

Auburn Azaleas are available in limited quantities through Donald E. Davis Arboretum plant sales and approved outlets. Because deciduous azaleas can be more challenging to propagate than common evergreen azaleas, availability varies by season, production schedule and demand.

The right to propagate and distribute the Auburn Azalea Series was generously given to Auburn University’s Donald E. Davis Arboretum by the breeders and gardeners who invested decades of work into creating and selecting these plants. Their intention was for the series to serve as both an attraction and a lasting funding source for the Arboretum.

By purchasing Auburn Azaleas through approved outlets, gardeners help support the Arboretum as a public resource and help sustain its free programs, living collections, conservation work and educational outreach.

Auburn Azaleas may be available through the Donald E. Davis Arboretum’s seasonal plant sales.

Spring Plant Sale

Plants are typically available on-site in April each year.

Fall Plant Sale

The fall sale is typically preorder only, which allows the Arboretum to offer a wider variety of native woody plants, perennials and specialty selections.

Auburn Azaleas may also be available through approved retail or wholesale outlets. Availability varies by outlet and season.

Auburn Azaleas are typically offered as young plants. Once established, they can become long-lasting features in Southern landscapes, but they require patience and proper care during the first several years.

Availability may change from year to year based on propagation success, plant readiness and inventory. To help make limited plants available to more gardeners, purchase limits may apply during sales.
