Welcome to COSAM
The COSAM advising office is located on the second floor of the Sciences Center Classroom Building in Room 239. Office hours are 7:45–11:45 a.m. and 12:45–4:45 p.m.
Students are encouraged to schedule advising appointments through Advise Assist to ensure their advisor is available. Peer advisors are also available in the office and can help answer general questions.
Transfer students are encouraged to explore student organizations, extracurricular activities and campus opportunities. Getting involved is a great way to meet other students, build community and make the most of your Auburn experience.
COSAM and pre-health student organizations include Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Pre-Physician Assistant Club, the Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Club, the Pre-Pharmacy Club, the Pre-Vet Club, Tri-Beta and more.
Be sure to attend office hours with your instructors early in the semester. Introduce yourself, let them know you are a transfer student and ask questions about the course. Building these relationships can help you succeed academically and may also support future letters of recommendation.
Take advantage of tutoring and other academic resources on campus. Many successful students use tutoring to strengthen their understanding of course material and improve their performance. A comprehensive list of tutoring resources is available in this Canvas course under “Tutoring.”
Transfer Credit Policies
Students transferring from a two-year school may apply a maximum number of transfer hours equal to half of the total hours required for their degree or 64 hours, whichever is fewer.
For most COSAM degrees, half of the degree requirement is 61 hours. This means 61 hours is typically the maximum number of hours that may transfer from a two-year institution.
Students who have more than 61 hours from a two-year school, or who have questions about how transfer credit has been applied to their degree, should contact their advisor.
Students transferring from a four-year school may apply up to 90 transfer hours toward their Auburn degree.
To graduate from Auburn University, students must complete at least 25% of their total degree requirements at Auburn.
Students must also complete at least 50% of their major coursework at Auburn. Major coursework is identified as the bolded courses on COSAM curriculum models and checklists.
