Long-Range Planning
Long-range academic planning helps students understand how their courses may fit together across multiple semesters. COSAM academic advisors work with students to review degree requirements, discuss course sequencing and plan for timely progress toward graduation.
Because some courses are offered only during certain semesters or require specific prerequisites, students are encouraged to meet regularly with their academic advisor and plan ahead. Long-range planning can be especially helpful for students preparing for professional school, adding a minor, participating in undergraduate research, studying abroad, changing majors or balancing major requirements with core curriculum courses.

- Plan future semesters based on expected course availability
- Discuss options for minors, certificates or pre-professional preparation

Planning Ahead
Students should review their curriculum model, check DegreeWorks and meet with their academic advisor before registration each semester. Advisors can help students build a plan, but students are responsible for understanding degree requirements, monitoring academic progress and completing all requirements for graduation.
