Supporting Science Olympiad. Inspiring the next generation.

The Science Olympiad Alumni Society (SOAS) connects former Science Olympiad participants, Auburn University students and STEM enthusiasts who want to give back to a program that shaped their academic journeys. Through mentorship, competition support and community engagement, SOAS plays a vital role in sustaining and strengthening Science Olympiad programs across Alabama.

What is SOAS?

SOAS is a student-led organization at Auburn University that supports Elementary and Alabama State Science Olympiad competitions through volunteer service, mentorship and event coordination. Members assist with a wide range of activities, including:

  • Writing and proofreading competition exams
  • Officiating and coordinating events on competition days
  • Mentoring Science Olympiad students and teachers
  • Supporting the overall operation of elementary and state competitions

Through these efforts, SOAS helps ensure high-quality, engaging competition experiences for students across the state.

Monthly meetings: Second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Location: SCC 122

Students and alumni are welcome to attend meetings to learn more about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved.

Inspiration

SOAS members serve as mentors and role models for Science Olympiad participants, offering guidance, encouragement and support as students pursue academic and career goals.

We believe in the power of education to transform lives. Through exam development, workshops and educational initiatives, we support students in building skills that extend beyond competition day.
Community
SOAS fosters an inclusive community where alumni, students and educators can connect, collaborate and remain engaged with Science Olympiad programs across Alabama.

Our ultimate goal is to make a positive impact through STEM education — empowering future innovators, problem solvers and leaders while advancing the mission of Science Olympiad.
