When positions are available, student technicians play an important role in supporting technology across the College of Sciences and Mathematics. Student employees work alongside COSAM IT staff to help maintain classrooms, assist users and support day-to-day technology operations.

Student technicians may respond to classroom technology issues, help diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, maintain equipment in academic spaces and assist with ticket response. They may also support hardware upgrades, software installations, special projects and the surplus process for obsolete equipment, along with other duties assigned by COSAM IT staff.

This role is well suited for students who are dependable, responsive and comfortable troubleshooting technical issues in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule & Work Expectations

Student technicians set their work hours around their class schedules, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during normal business hours. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend hours are not required.

Some positions may also require frequent movement between locations and the ability to lift or push loads of at least 25 pounds.
