Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Facility
Instrumentation
The NMR Facility houses two high-field Bruker spectrometers used for molecular structure determination and chemical analysis:
-
Bruker 500 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a broadband nitrogen-cooled cryoprobe and automated sample changer
-
Bruker 600 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a triple-resonance cryogenic probe and automated sample changer
These instruments enable a wide range of experiments, including multidimensional NMR techniques used to determine the structures of complex molecules and biomolecules.
User Training & Access
All potential users must complete training with the NMR Center director or designated staff before operating the instruments. Training ensures that researchers understand proper instrument operation, sample preparation and safety procedures.
After training is completed, users receive credentials to access the online scheduling system for reserving instrument time.
Scheduling Instrument Time
Instrument time is reserved through the department’s online scheduling system. Once training has been completed, users may log in to reserve instrument time and manage experiment scheduling.
Users are responsible for reporting any instrument issues or malfunctions to the NMR Center director.
Safety & Laboratory Policies
All users must follow Auburn University laboratory safety policies and applicable OSHA guidelines while using the facility. Proper sample labeling, eye protection and safe laboratory practices are required when preparing and analyzing samples.
Additional user guides and instrument manuals are available to assist researchers in conducting NMR experiments.
