Research Electronics Support Facility (RESF)

The Research Electronics Support Facility (RESF) provides electronic instrument design, repair and technical support for laboratory equipment used in research and teaching across Auburn University. The facility assists faculty, staff and researchers with maintaining, troubleshooting and developing specialized instrumentation used in chemical and biological laboratories.

By supporting the operation and development of laboratory instrumentation, RESF helps ensure that researchers and students have reliable access to the tools required for modern scientific investigation.

Services

RESF provides technical support for a wide range of laboratory instruments and electronic systems used in research and instructional laboratories. Services include:

  • Diagnostic troubleshooting and equipment repair

  • Electronics design and instrumentation development

  • Maintenance of laboratory instrumentation

  • Consultation on equipment operation and configuration

  • Technical support for research and instructional laboratories

These services support both departmental laboratories and research programs across the broader Auburn University campus.

Equipment Supported

The facility provides support for many types of scientific instrumentation, including:

  • Analytical instrumentation

  • Chromatography systems (HPLC, FPLC, GC and CE)

  • Mass spectrometry systems

  • Spectrometers and spectroscopic instruments

  • Microscopes and imaging systems

  • Centrifuges and laboratory pumps

  • Vacuum systems and water purification systems

  • Laboratory ovens, incubators and environmental chambers

RESF also assists with troubleshooting and maintaining a wide variety of smaller laboratory instruments and electronic systems used in research and teaching laboratories.

Service Requests

Service requests can be submitted through the department’s electronic request system. Auburn users may need their Auburn credentials to access the request system and associated resources.

If access to the online system is unavailable, alternative submission methods may be arranged as needed.
