The Department of Biological Sciences in Auburn University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics explores life across scales, from genes and cells to organisms, ecosystems and global biodiversity.
Our faculty, students and staff advance discovery through research in the lab, in the field and in natural history collections. Students learn alongside scientists whose work addresses some of today’s most important questions in biology, including evolution, conservation, genetics, physiology, host-microbial interactions and biology education.
The department is also home to distinctive Auburn resources that extend biology beyond the classroom: the Donald E. Davis Arboretum, the Auburn University Museum of Natural History and the Alabama Natural Heritage Program. Together, these programs support research, conservation, education and public engagement across Alabama and the Southeast.
Whether you are preparing for a career in science, health, conservation, education or research, Biological Sciences offers opportunities to explore the living world through hands-on learning and meaningful discovery.
