Short Bio

Daniel Warner is an evolutionary ecologist in the Department of Biological Sciences at Auburn University. He received his PhD from the University of Sydney in 2007 and was a postdoctoral researcher at Iowa State University before starting an assistant professor position in 2012 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2015, he transitioned to his current position at Auburn University. He teaches courses on Vertebrate Biodiversity, Ecology, and Herpetology, as well as a study abroad course on tropical ecology in Costa Rica. He maintains an active research lab with postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students, where they study aspects of developmental plasticity, ecology, behavior and physiology of reptiles, primarily lizards. Their work combines laboratory and field experiments to gain novel insights into adaptive evolution and how organisms respond to environmental change. The Warner Lab has published over 150 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and has received multiple awards for their research.
