Short Bio

For over two decades, Stacey LaFrentz has been conducting applied research as a technician or laboratory manager in microbiology and molecular biology working with numerous animal species and bacterial pathogens. Notable projects have included sampling resident Canada goose population for Campylobacter spp., colonization of Eschericiia coli 0157:H7 in cattle, microarrays for detection of viral and bacterial pathogens of fish, testing post-harvest processed oysters for pathogenic Vibrio spp., and improving conjugation in Flavobacterium covae for creating knockout mutants. She is currently working as a Research Assistant in Dr. Mark Liles's lab and also pursuing a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences exploring virulence factors of the catfish pathogen, F. covae.
