    Luyu Liu is a geospatial data scientist specializing in sustainable transportation and advanced transportation analysis. His research aims to promote sustainable and resilient mobility in the context of car-dependent cities with advanced analytical techniques. Empirically, his work focuses on transport geography, with particular emphasis on public transit and micromobility. Methodologically, he employs AI-driven solutions, GIScience and space-time analytics to address transportation challenges from a data-driven perspective. Dr. Liu’s research has earned multiple national and international recognitions. He received the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the AAG Transportation Geography Specialty Group (2024) and the Best Paper Award from the Journal of Geographical Systems (2023). His work has been published in leading journals such as Journal of Transport Geography, Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, Transportation Research Part D, and Environment and Planning B. He has also served as Principal Investigator and Co-PI on multiple USDOT–funded projects. Beyond academia, his research has been featured in media outlets such as KCBS Radio, Tech Times and Ohio State News.
