Short Bio
Dr. Leticia De Marchi is a geologist from Brazil (Unicamp) and a lecturer at Auburn University, where she teaches introductory geology courses. She earned her PhD and Master’s degrees conducting research on impact cratering, combining field studies, laboratory analyses, and computational modeling to better understand crater formation and surface processes on Earth and other planets

Professional Experience
Since joining Auburn University, I have taught a wide range of students across Geosciences and STEM disciplines (Physical Geology, Historical Geology, Environmental Geology, and Concepts of Science). I coordinate large-enrollment courses, overseeing teaching assistants and laboratory activities for undergraduate students.
Innovation
My research interests lie in understanding the evolution of solid planetary surfaces through impacts of celestial bodies, specifically, the analysis of marine-target impact craters on Earth and their connections to other planetary surfaces, where ancient bodies of water could have existed. My field of expertise is, within the main theme, numerical modeling, structural geology, and sedimentary records and processes.
Engagement
I have been involved in outreach and extra-curricular activities, including prison education, science engagement with underprivileged communities, leading and organizing field trips, participating in K–12 Science Olympiads, and giving public presentations
