Professional Experience

• Currently a graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate geoscience labs
• Has experience in labs in the fields of environmental sciences and global paleoecology
• Was a Summer Student Fellow at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (Summer 2024) researching the geochemical changes associated with rewetting relict peat with saltwater
• Participated in the Gulf Renaissance Scholars Program at LSU (Summer 2023) on a project evaluating an old-growth cypress forest with the goal of identifying it as a emerging ghost or healthy forest

Innovation

Dakota Sievers is a Geology Masters student in Dr. Richard Vachula's Lab. Their research focuses on the geo-ecological development of pitcher plant bogs in southern Alabama.
