Short Bio

Brittni L. Sloan is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University, where she also serves as Director of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences program. She holds an MPH in Epidemiology and an MS in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A proud Auburn alumna, she earned her BS degree before beginning her career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Before transitioning to academia, Mrs. Sloan worked as a Lead Medical Technologist and Charge Technologist in Birmingham‑area hospitals, gaining extensive clinical experience that informs her teaching. At Auburn, she has developed and taught a wide range of laboratory science courses, created new curricula to expand student pathways in healthcare professions, and led significant program development initiatives within the Clinical Laboratory Sciences curriculum. Mrs. Sloan is deeply committed to student engagement and public awareness of laboratory medicine. She is an active contributor to COSAM outreach efforts—including Destination STEM, Discovery MedCamp, Summer Scholars Academy, War Eagle Days, and numerous pre‑health and recruitment programs—and frequently collaborates with clinical and educational partners across Alabama. Her professional service includes roles in the Association of Medical Laboratory Education Programs, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. Mrs. Sloan’s teaching philosophy centers on real‑world application, high expectations, and student‑centered learning, and she is passionate about advancing the visibility and impact of the medical laboratory science profession.
