Short Bio

Amy Thomas, J.D., CRA, is director of research programming and grants for Auburn University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics, where she supports faculty and departments in navigating the proposal and award lifecycle, sponsor requirements, compliance questions and internal research administration processes.

With more than 18 years of experience in higher education research administration and a background in legal practice, Thomas focuses on translating complex rules and requirements into practical, service-minded guidance.

She is a certified research administrator, national faculty member, presenter and workshop leader for the National Council of University Research Administrators and a member of the NCURA Board of Directors.

Thomas is also a founding member, lead instructor and curriculum developer for Auburn University’s COMPASS program, which trains the university’s research administration professionals. She also developed and teaches Auburn’s undergraduate special topics course in research administration.
